About Arkansas Best FCU

General Info

Arkansas Best Federal Credit Union is a federally chartered, not-for-profit financial institution established in 1960 under the provisions of the Federal Credit Union Act. Located in the heart of Fort Smith, AR, we are owned by our members. Yes, that’s right, as a member at ABFCU, you are also an owner. There’s nothing like owning the institution where you save and borrow money!

We serve the employees of our Select Employer Groups and members of their families. To find out if your employer is one of our Select Employer Groups, give us a call at 479-649-2060. We are governed by a Board of Directors elected from our membership at an annual meeting. The officers are elected from the Board of Directors.

The mission of Arkansas Best Federal Credit Union is to provide exceptional service for our members in support of their financial goals. We strive to do this by returning profits to you in the form of higher dividends on savings, lower rates on loans, lower fees, and many remote services to make it easy to do business with us no matter where you live!

We are so glad you are here. Please take a few moments to look around our website and feel free to contact us with any questions.

Membership

Credit Union membership starts with opening a share savings account with as little as $5. This qualifies you for full access to all of the great options ABFCU has to offer. Whether reaping the benefits of our typically higher interest rates on savings, share certificates, and retirement accounts, paying off that new auto faster than expected because of our low interest rates on loans, or enjoying the ease and freedom of our checking account and Visa Card we know that you will find services to make life a little easier with ABFCU.

Employees, spouses, and family members of our select employer groups (SEGs) are eligible for membership with ABFCU. To find out if your employer is one of our SEGs, please call us at 479-649-2060.

It’s important to know that once you’ve joined the credit union, you are eligible to maintain that membership for life! This means changes in job status such as retirement or changing employers does not impact your ability to take advantage of all of the services offered to our members. Membership is a lifetime benefit, no matter where you live! With access to the Shared Branch, CO-OP ATM, and MoneyPass networks, you never have to worry about not being connected.
